You also mentioned that you came to the US eleven years ago. I’ve dated some European men, and there were some cultural differences between European men and American ones (I watched two Germans nearly have a heart attack when a guy who was on a first date didn’t offer to pay for the girl’s dinner.) I’m not stating that example to bring back the argument over whether or not men should pay for first dates, but simply to state that it is possible that there are cultural norms involved in dating that are different in Nigeria than in the US.

Please understand that my comment is in no means meant as an attack – I truly don’t have any idea if you are just simply experiencing prejudice in dating (which I fully believe exists) or if there is also another issue at stake which would be a lot easier to address.
