That being said, there are certain types of baggage I won’t deal with, either because of previous bad experiences or just other issues. Criminal record is a no, due to the type of work I do, I get background checked by the RCMP & CSIS (Canadian equivalent to the FBI I think) as I need to be on the tarmac & other restricted areas of our airport. They also investigate my family & significant others & I can be refused that pass. I need to be squeaky clean.

Also had people in my past with addiction issues. Never again.

As for financial, considering I’ve had those in my past, who am I to say I can’t live with that?

I tell folks, “I have plenty of baggage, but I have it on the outside.” I usually say that when they see me coming back from the airport, but I also mean it in the self-disclosure sense…someone who’s not willing to disclose their baggage to the extent that I am is going to be problematic for me.
