It’s time we stopped acting like men are the sole problem here. I have little sympathy for the classic stereotype of the abusive man who beats his partner for burning dinner or some such triviality. But a stereotype is all that is. The reality is that people are complex, there are no saints, and ass-beatings don’t just fall out the sky.

His mistake was apologizing. It would have been better if he remained silent about the matter altogether if he knew he couldn’t take the heat. Listening to him apologize reminded me of hearing Obama speak….and that’s not a good thing.

The whole John Rocker fiasco proved that everything that you’ve worked for can be lost in a New York minute (literally, in that case) if you cross the P.C. Gestapo, even if you apologize afterward.
A lot of these problems could be avoided if we heeded those five words that our parents taught us: keep your hands to yourself. If not, then in the words of one Cleveland bus driver, “If you wanna be a man, I’ll treat you like one.”
